In the old walls of a former armoury below Karneid Castle (near Bolzano), something completely different is being created today: "grenades", as Pitzner himself calls them. Wines with character and personality. The vernacular meets passion here: "authentic Bombe di piacere" is the promise of the brothers Markus & Thomas Puff.
At the heart of Winery Pitzner is Cantina Pitzner in Kardaun, which spans an impressive seven centuries – a place where time, patience and care count far more than haste. "Wine as a work of art", "food for the senses" – this deep-rooted claim extends from the vineyard to the heart of the ancient cellar.
The Pitzner Brothers cultivate nine individual vineyards on nine hectares. You could make it easier for yourself – but they focus on challenge: getting the most out of each vineyard, with dedication and enthusiasm. The result: around 45.000 bottlesa year, each with its own profile.
There is character and joy in every bottle (e.g. can opener, HOI, Scharfegg or Versé Rosé) - whether sfrontato, fine or forte. That's what Pitzner calls his wines: cheeky, elegant, strong - and above all refreshingly honest.
The philosophy? Sustainability, respect for nature, a natural cycle – they give back more than they take. The grape pomace returns to the earth after fermentation: a living contribution to the growing vineyard.

The location gives the wines their structure: porphyry, sandy soils, moraine deposits and an excellent microclimate with great day-night fluctuations – the result: expressive, fruity and spicy wines that make the terroir tangible.
